Governor Calanius Sornia

Governor Calanius Sornia is the current Governor of Actina Province, the easternmost province in the empire. He is in his second five year term (which is unusual), and is very popular with the people and highly regarded by the elite. His palace is in Pumpossa, though he has no direct role in governing the city.

As Governor, he has control of two Legions, Legio VI Ferrata, stationed permanently in the Pumpossa area, Legio II Sabina, stationed in southern Actina, patrolling the border to Cusim Ocsana, another lost province. He also has provisional command of XXVII Gemina, a recently raised legion stationed at the top of the pass leasing to Sassina, and tasked with patrolling the mountains on both side of the pass to suppress bandits . . . and Orcs. after the recent war with them.

Governor Calanius is well known as a member of the Centrist faction, and close personal friend of President Theodosius, who leads the Centrists. The Centrists are unalterably opposed to trying to reintegrate Sassina or Cusim Ocsana forcibly, preferring a more diplomatic approach. Some believe that Calanius' daughter being married to a barbarian king in Sassina colors his view of the matter.

Calanius is a fit, trim man in his 50s, handsome, well spoken, and quite likeable, but capable of a stern, iron fist when needed. He tolerates little buffoonery in his inner circle, and is strict in his enforcement of the empire's corruption laws.
