Devis One-Eye

Devis One-Eye is a crime lord in The Maze. He is, first and foremost, a loan shark, but little happens in The Maze that he is not aware of - and has approved, and nothing makes money without his getting a cut.

Devis is in his 40s, scarred from many fights with and without weapons, and lost his eye to a dagger years ago. It is said the man who took his eye took weeks to die. Devis is wily, ruthless, and widely considered one of the most dangerous men in Pumpossa. He is not the only crime lord in The Maze, but he is the biggest, with hundreds of people answering to him, even to their lives.

He lives in The Maze, no one knows where, and no one who does will tell, as they fear death less than they fear Devis. It is very rare that he leaves The Maze for any reason, and he as defied the authorities to come and get him for years. The Guard does not enter The Maze, even in force, and Devis is a big reason why. Even the Governor, with command of two legions, has been reluctant to engage in open conflict with Devis and the Maze, for fear that it would destroy the entire city.
