Father Dato

Father Dato lives in The Bottoms, though he is assigned to the main church up on The Hill. He is the most accessible priest in the neighborhood, and often tends to the sick, be their illness of the body or the spirit, when needed. He is known to be very pious, and strict in his expectations of his flock. Some consider him a bit sanctimonious and overly rigid.

Dato and Friar Tura are often at odds, because Dato’s strict piety conflicts with Tura’s more pragmatic worldliness. But it is, in general, a friendly squabble, as both realize the limits of their ability to minister to their flocks. Some feel that Dato can be a bit sanctimonious at times, and all agree that Tura is a bit too fond of food and drink, and the creature comforts – including Tura himself.
