Friar Tura

Friar Tura is a native son of The Bottoms, and while no one doubts his Calling, all doubt his ability to live a chaste, pious life. He is a fat, jolly man who has a kind word and a bit of sage advice for everyone, and is always willing to offer a helping hand to those in need.

Father Dato and Tura are often at odds, because Dato’s strict piety conflicts with Tura’s more pragmatic worldliness. But it is, in general, a friendly squabble, as both realize the limits of their ability to minister to their flocks. Some feel that Dato can be a bit sanctimonious at times, and all agree that Tura is a bit too fond of food and drink, and the creature comforts – including Tura himself.
