Foundryman's Guild

The Foundryman’s Guild is one of the most important in any city, being a source of important military materials. They hold a monopoly on the smelting of metals, and casting of tin, copper, and other metals, and the making of alloys, all critically important to the Legions, and for civilian life.

The opening of the pass to Sassina has caused the Guild some concern, because the former province is known to be rich in minerals, especially iron ore, and has been exporting increasing amount of the very highest quality iron pigs available. There are those who are opposed to allowing this, or at least taxing it heavily, but Governor Calinius is more concerned with securing his supply of cheap, high grade iron than the fortunes of the Guild.

The current Guildmaster is Tarquintus Artineia, a bitter, hard muscled man in his 40s, and accomplished foundryman, and not well liked but highly respected by members of his Guild. Of late, he has been quite vocal in Curia meetings, lamenting the availability of Sassinian iron (produced by those who refuse to join his Guild). He has always favored the Hawk faction, which favors the forcible recovery of Sassina (and Cusim Ocsana) as an imperial province. The Governor, however, is firmly in the Centrist camp, and a close friend of President Theodosius (who heads the Centrists), and favors building a peaceful relationship.

Tarquintus always attends Curia meetings in person, as an opportunity to rail against the weak, ineffective policies of the Governor.
