"Mad Dog" Martinus is a 20 year veteran of the Guard. He has a reputation of being short tempered, slow on the uptake, and utterly fearless in battle. He never goes on patrol without his chainmail, sword and shield, which many consider to be a sign he's looking for trouble. And his behavior does nothing to convince them otherwise. He's been sent to The Bottoms after one too many incidents among the inhabitants of more privileged parts of town, and Diego keeps him on a short lease.
But there are few men most would rather have beside them in a battle.
