Procurator Quinius Vergia

Quinius Vergia is Procurator for the Province of Actina, in the city of Pumpossa. As such, he is the chief financial officer of the province charged with handling its financial matters. He works closely with Governor Calanius, but is not subordinate to him. The Governor answers to the Thaumacratic Council, while the Procurator answers to the Senate.

His primary responsibilities are:

• the collection of taxes, especially the land tax (tributum soli), poll tax (tributum capitis), and the portorium, an imperial duty on the carriage of goods on public highways
• collection of rents on land belonging to imperial estates
• management of mines
• the distribution of pay to public servants (mostly in the military)
